Lead Pastor: Dan Borgelt

Education and Ministry Experience: I received my Bible and Theology degree from Malone University in ’02, and then my Masters of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological seminary in ’05. After serving in youth ministry in college and seminary I have been serving as an ordained pastor in the EPC for 12 years. I’ve been here at Kirkmont for almost 3 years now.

Job Description and Vision: As lead pastor my primary area of focus is planning our Sunday morning services, including the regular preaching. A big part of my job also involves making sure all of our various ministries and staff stay on the same page as we seek to follow where God is leading us. I have a passion to see us effectively fulfill the great commission through loving and caring outreach and intentional biblically based discipleship.

Personal: My wife and I met in college as Young Life volunteers and we’ve always shared a passion for doing ministry together. We’ve been married for 14 years and are blessed with 4 (soon to be 5) children. I absolutely love playing just about any sport, going to the movies, my favorite TV show is ‘The Office’ and I am a huge  Michigan Football Fan!

Adult Discipleship and Care Pastor: BJ Newman

Education and Ministry Experience: After completing a BA in English Literature in 2003, I enlisted in the Air National Guard and moved to Virginia Beach. While there, I taught high school English, worked in youth ministry, and started seminary at Regent University. In 2011, the Air Force sent me to the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA to complete a Farsi language program. I later completed my M.Div. from Regent in 2014. In 2016, I ordained with the EPC to commission as an Air Force Chaplain, and subsequently joined Kirkmont as a pastor in May of 2017.

Job Description and Vision: My role at Kirkmont involves leading adult education, which includes small groups and Sunday school classes, as well as counseling and pastoral care. My vision is to inspire students of the Word to glorify God by living like Christ in every area of their lives through the Holy Spirit.

Personal: Growing up as a Buckeye in a small town on the Ohio River, where I met my wife, I inherited a love of God’s creation. I enjoy fishing, hunting, and grilling out with family. I played college baseball, and still love to workout. I am also a die-hard theology nerd who loves to read old books.

Family Ministries Director: Andy Gilman

Education and Ministry Experience: After high school I attended Moody Bible Institute for two years. I transferred to Kent State University here in Ohio to complete my Bachelor’s degree in History; all the while serving as a youth pastor for Grace Church PCA of the Western Reserve. After spending 12 years overseas in Korea 5 of those as a Senior Pastor of an English speaking congregation there, I returned to complete my Masters of Divinity at Covenant Theological Seminary in my hometown of St. Louis, Missouri in 2015.

Job Description and Vision: It is my hope that Kirkmont will always be a place where we carry forth the love of God for children, youth, and their parents. In my role as Family Ministries Director I am available to council and walk with families as they seek to live faithfully to the gospel in their home and in the church. I lead the children’s church ministry by creating an exciting and Christ centered experience of worship for the kids each week. I am also the Youth Pastor for Jr. and Sr. high groups here at Kirkmont. We hold weekly meetings and regular events each month as well as a retreat and youth trips in the summer and fall.

Personal: I grew up in St. Louis, Missouri. We are crazy about baseball so feel free to ask me how the Cardinals are doing, and even the Reds I guess. I have been teaching and leading various ministries for the past 20 years. Most notably I lived in South Korea and was the pastor of a church there for 5 years. I met my wife in the city of Daegu, South Korea in 2002 and we were married in 2007. We have two children. Our daughter Sienna is 9 years old and our son Shane is 7.

Youth Ministries Director: Desiree Belford

Education and Ministry Experience. I am currently working towards a Masters of Education in School Counseling degree at Wright State University. I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at WSU in the Summer of 2016, I began my ministry as a Navigators leader at the University of Dayton. Over the past several years, I spent a lot of time volunteering and working on the ministry team at a local poor and homeless ministry. While there, I worked to connect with both adults and children in our community who need help both in their spiritual lives and in their everyday needs. God made it very clear throughout my years of education and years working with the homeless population in Dayton that He is calling me to work with youth in several different capacities which eventually lead me to Kirkmont in the summer of 2015.

Job Description and Vision: At Kirkmont, my main focus is on the youth group, 6th through 12th graders. I reach them on a personal level by leading Sunday school, going to their extra-curricular events, and meeting with them individually. My vision is to walk alongside these children as they develop a deepening personal relationship with Christ before they enter the world of college and career.

Personal: I grew up in a small town just East of Cleveland called Olmsted Falls with my family of six. I enjoy spending time going on nature hikes and playing with my two guinea pigs, Pickles and Kylo. Additionally, I have played, refereed, and coached soccer for many years. The majority of my time is spent reading and researching ways to implement the knowledge I am learning in my classes with the desire that Christ has given me to share His love and hope with youth in schools.

Traditional Worship Director: Amy Vaubel

Education and Ministry Experience: I graduated from Wright State University in 1998 and received my Masters of Music Education there in 2000 majoring in Vocal Pedagogy and Choral Conducting. I was on staff at WSU until 2003. I have directed church choirs in various places since 1975. I have been on staff at Kirkmont for 26 years.

Job Description and Vision: I direct the Chancel Choir, the Handbell Choir, and I support and often participate in the Praise Team at the Contemporary Service. I coordinate special music for both services, and make the schedule for those working in the AV booth. I help plan the worship services and input the information in both the bulletin and the software that appears on the screen. I substitute for Debbie Yanney, our organist. My vision is to make sure the music we do praises and points to God and is inspiring to those who hear it. I hope to encourage those with musical talents to serve God in this place using those talents.

Personal: I have been married for 48 years to my husband, Gail, whom I met in high school. We work together here as he also participates in the music and is head of our sound crew. We have 2 sons, both married, and two musical granddaughters here in Beavercreek. I am the Chorus Manager and sing with the Dayton Philharmonic Choruses, perform with Wind in the Woods Early Music Ensemble, the Sinclair Handbell Choir, and the Shakertown Stompers. I enjoy attending BHS band concerts, playing golf, watching all kinds of sports, and cheering for the Seahawks.

Education and Ministry Experience:I graduated from Cedarville University in 2017 with a Bachelor’s degree in music and a minor in Bible. While there, I served on the worship team at my local church and became involved in the discipleship ministries on campus. Job Description and Vision: My role at Kirkmont involves leading the music for the contemporary service. In addition to leading worship each Sunday, I organize the praise teams, select the songs, and lead the weekly band rehearsals. I hope and pray that God uses my role as worship leader to provide a means for our congregation to glorify God as they worship him through music.

Personal: I was born in Germany and lived there until 2002, when my family moved to Golden, Missouri. I met my wife at the beginning of my freshman year at Cedarville in 2013, and we have been married since June of 2017. It’s been a joy being married to her, and she has been a tremendous blessing to me in my ministry. I’m a huge German soccer and New Orleans Saints fan.
