Miami Valley Women’s Center

The Miami Valley Women’s Center is a locally organized and funded non-profit ministry that exists to aid women who are experiencing unanticipated pregnancies. It is a unique program designed to offer guidance and compassionate Christian support to women of all ages in such crisis situations. Support and counseling are also offered to significant family members. A licensed physician is available to perform early pregnancy exams, sexually transmitted disease testing, and ultrasounds on a limited basis. Services offered by the Center’s volunteers include a 24-hour careline, pregnancy testing, accurate information on all pregnancy options (parenting, adoption, and abortion procedures, including physical, emotional and spiritual risks of abortion), material assistance with baby needs, and referrals for prenatal care. All services are confidential, caring, and free of charge. This help is provided through volunteers and donations from individuals, local churches, and businesses. How you can serve: 1) Pray. 2) Financial support. 3) Volunteer. 4) Donate needed items (call for a complete list, but diapers-all sizes, formula, baby food, clothing-up to 5T, cribs, bassinets, car seats, highchairs, playpens, strollers, etc. are always needed). 2008 Walk 4Life
Miami Valley Women's Center

Mark you calendar now for Saturday, May 17 for the Miami Valley Women's Center Annual Walk 4Life! Thousands of women and their unborn babies will benefit from this year's walk. The Walk 4Life is a great opportunity to help us raise the necessary funds to keep our doors open so that we can reach our community with the love of Jesus Christ while meeting their practical needs. We accept no state or federal funding that would prevent us from sharing Jesus with our clients and praying with them. Will you help us? Look for further information in your Sunday Bulletins and next month's Kirkmont Konnection. Contact your church with any questions. Thanks for supporting the Miami Valley Women's Center.

Gospel Mission

The Gospel Mission, now under the direction of Rev. and Mrs. Kenneth Clarkston, is dedicated to serve Christ in the community, specifically the inner city of Dayton. The Gospel Mission has a very comprehensive plan for the inner city. Christ is foremost in all of the various ministries that are offered. We assist with many needs from clothing, food, hot meals in our free restaurant, education, Joy Clubs, Sunday School, Seniors programs, and so much more. Many volunteer missionary staff positions are available in our ever-growing outreach...and we never close. How you can serve: 1) Ask to be put on our monthly prayer letter so that you can effectively pray for our needs, all of our financial support comes from God's people; no governmental support. God has shown us how to maximize every contribution. Your investment, regardless of size, is very much appreciated. 2) Individual and group volunteers are always needed. Please call for details (223-4519). 3) A needs list is published once a quarter in The Lighthouse, or you may call the mission for a current update. Phone: 937-223-4513. www.GospelMissionDayton.org

High School Students' Nicaragua Mission Trip

Thanks to all of you who helped make the youth trip to Nicaragua possible. I am pleased to report that God provided for us in many incredible ways and that all who went were blessed by what they learned and encountered. The students made many new friends both from the San Diego team and Vida Joven youth of Nicaragua that worked alongside of us. We also experienced what everyday life is like in Nicaragua through an overnight home stay. We were challenged by a hearty hike to the top of a mountain that overlooked the city we stayed in and also by intercultural communication. The smiling faces of the kids at VBS were a treat, especially when we saw the conditions that they live in everyday. The team worked with all of their hearts and strength whether the job they were given was road construction, digging holes for coffee plants, weeding the coffee plants, or packing coffee. Our souls were refreshed each night as we worshipped in both English and Spanish. It was a blessing for me as a Spanish major to translate for our team and to watch our students fall in love with a beautiful country and people and even more importantly with the God who created us all and who unites us together through our common hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Thanks again for helping our students have this world impacting and life changing experience!

In His Service,
Carmen Garrigan, Associate Pastor for Youth

Beavercreek FISH

FISH began in England in 1961 when an Anglican priest and a layman started a program where a person in need of anything from food, clothes, and medical attention or just companionship could put the early Christian symbol of the fish, representing Christ, in their window. Beavercreek FISH is a volunteer organization which meets many needs in Beavercreek. Using volunteers and funds from various churches, organizations, and individuals in Beavercreek, FISH provides food and emergency funds to those in need. Although Beavercreek appears to be an affluent area, there are still many needs for the elderly, single parent families, battered women, and people temporarily out of work. How you can serve: 1) Pray. 2) Financial support. 3) Volunteer. 4) Donate the following items: food (canned meats, beef stew, egg noodles, etc.), paper products (paper towels, toilet paper, etc.), toiletry products (bar soap, deodorant, shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc.), laundry detergent, dish detergent, etc. Phone: 937-222-5444 http://www.co.greene.oh.us/fcf/beavercreekfish.htm

Habitat for Humanity of Greene County

Habitat for Humanity is a national Christian ministry that builds and rehabilitates homes for low-income families with the goal of eliminating poverty housing. The Greene County affiliate functions with all volunteer labor and tax-deductible donations of money and materials to construct the homes. Each new homeowner family must contribute 300 hours of sweat equity to the program to increase the pride of ownership. The partner family then buys the house for the cost of the materials. Greene County then carries the 0% interest mortgage on the home. Habitat for Humanity of Greene County was founded in 1990. Since its inception we have built 14 homes and are presently working on a house in Xenia and Fairborn. How you can serve: 1) Pray. 2) Financial support. 3) Volunteer. 4) Donate needed items (please check the HHGC website for a current needs list). Phone: 937-374-8726. greenecountyhabitat.org
